register_block_type

I’m confused with the used of this function.
I’ve seen that in code attached to Advanced Guttenberg course, Zac uses this function to register each block (first he registers the scripts js and css and then he register the blocks (in different PHP files)
But in the initial Guttenberg course, I don’t this function (register_block_type) nor how he registers the blocks (in PHP)

Hi!

I did not use this in the intro course, but did in the advanced one. It is used for registering blocks on the PHP/Server side. This is not required, but there are benefits to doing so.
